Fading the Royals' offense is smarter, more times than not. Kansas City is hitting just .222 against righties on the season, and today they get one who’s been shockingly very serviceable. This number feels like it should be 1.5, so getting 2.5 is a great value.
Michael Lorenzen is on the mound for Detroit. Do I actually think he’s that great of a pitcher? Not really, to be quite honest. With that being said, he is on a phenomenal stretch right now, allowing just two earned runs over his last 20 innings. Those three games all came against the New York Mets, Cleveland Guardians, and Pittsburgh Pirates, who are all better lineups on paper than Kansas City.
Lorenzen can have his worst start in weeks and still cash us here. Kansas City has scored just three runs over their last three games and 12 runs over their last six. The offense is dead, and Lorenzen has been hot. A pivot I like would also be u2.5 Earned Runs for the 31-year-old, but you may have to sweat out an extra-inning than us.
Kansas City can’t hit in general, but specifically can’t hit righties. Lorenzen, shockingly has better road splits with a very solid 3.18 road ERA. Everything points to Royals scoring two runs or less in the first five innings, which is worth the juice. Let's roll!
