New York Yankees vs. Tampa Bay Rays Prediction: Will Carlos Rodon, Zach Eflin Take Control?
The Tampa Bay Rays are in the Bronx, taking on the New York Yankees tonight. Will Carlos Rodon and Zach Eflin take control of the game on the mound tonight? Handicapper Krabs provides his prediction and pick for this AL East showdown.

5 minZach Eflin, the highest-paid player on the Tampa Bay Rays, has lived up to his contract for the majority of the year. Eflin was the Rays largest free agent signing in franchise history, a surprising fact. He might not be a big name like his opponent, Carlos Rodon, but maybe that provides some value in the betting market…

New York Yankees vs. Tampa Bay Rays Prediction
Eflin has gotten “roughed up” in two of his last three starts. July has been his worst month of the season to date, but I still believe in the veteran right-hander. It won’t be easy for Eflin, who will be facing Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees on national television tonight.
Eflin has good numbers in a small sample against this Yankees lineup, including two strikeouts in three at-bats against Aaron Judge. He has gotten rocked by the Miami Marlins and Kansas City Royals in July, but he also threw a gem against the Baltimore Orioles in between those starts. I’m willing to bet Eflin dials in tonight for another gem as he continues to earn every bit of that $11,000,000 salary.
Carlos Rodon has struggled in his return from the IL, failing to impress his new team. The Yankees paid Rodon a lot of money to pitch in games like tonight. They are in dire need of another win, especially against a divisional opponent. The Yankees are 10 games back in the loaded AL East, but only 3.5 games out of a Wildcard spot. They paid Rodon to not only pitch in games like this but dominate. He looked much better in his last outing against the Mets, allowing only one earned run. Expect much of the same tonight as Rodon looks to earn his pinstripes.
There is no chance I’m picking a side in this elite AL East showdown tonight, especially with the line back to a pick ‘em. It looks like even the oddsmakers aren’t sure who’s winning this one, moving the line to a coin-flip after opening the Rays at (-140). Instead of trying to get cute with the Rays on the moneyline, bet the under and watch both pitchers shine on the brightest of stages.
