Don’t look now, but the Milwaukee Brewers pretty much have the NL Central locked up at this point. They have been on fire down the stretch, winning seven of their last ten games. They are now four games ahead of the Cubs and five games ahead of the Reds. Tonight, they are going for a sweep against the feeble Padres. Will Adrian Houser be able to out-pitch Michael Wacha at home?

San Diego Padres vs. Milwaukee Brewers Prediction
Adrian Houser is coming off debatably his best outing of the season last week. He threw five innings of one-run ball against the Rangers on the road, racking up seven strikeouts. That’s an impressive outing against one of the best lineups in baseball on the road.
Speaking of pitching on the road, Houser has always had struggles pitching away from Milwaukee. This makes his most recent outing even more impressive, considering it was at one of the more hitter-friendly ballparks in baseball.
Houser’s opposing batting average on the road is 47 points higher than it is at home. Tonight, he will be facing the lowly Padres at home, going for a sweep. The Brewers know that the Reds and Cubs are two of the streakiest teams in baseball; one of them could get hot down the stretch and make this NL Central pennant race weird. My point is, don’t expect the Brew Crew to let their foot off the gas pedal anytime soon.
Michael Wacha won’t be an easy opponent to face, but I find it interesting the moneyline odds in this matchup are nearly a pick ‘em considering Wacha’s ERA is almost half of Housers. I’m willing to bet Houser puts up a good fight tonight against Wacha, keeping the Brewers in this game. Houser loves pitching in Milwaukee, and Wacha’s ERA is more than a point higher on the road…
With the Brewers’ offense surging, and the Padres continuing the struggle, fade the “better starting pitcher” and the public tonight by backing Milwaukee. The Padres are dead. Their toxic clubhouse hasn’t shown any signs of life in August. The Brewers are rolling right now. Ride the hot hand and back the Brew Crew as a short underdog at home.
