Well, we have a loaded slate here on the diamond tonight, so I am going to dive right into a money line parlay I love between two squads I think are poised to get the job done tonight. Yesterday was a travel and rest day for much of the league, so I really like this spot for both squads as they both have strong pitching advantages tonight, and I believe the bats can do the rest for us.
MLB Parlay Tonight
Leg 1: Houston Astros vs. New York Yankees
Justin Verlander has the ball for the Astros, and the veteran ace has looked excellent since returning to Houston at the trade deadline. Tonight, he has an opportunity to build on that success against a squad he has seen plenty before and handled quite well. Current Yankees hitters are slashing just .185/.246/.353 against Verlander on 126 at-bats while striking out north of 20% of the time, which is still rather high for a guy who has lost a few miles per hour on his fastball.
Carlos Rodon has some history with Houston as well, and while he has had success against them before, Houston is a very capable team when it comes to getting on a Southpaw, and the spot tonight is great for a team that thrives off energy. Having a Friday night home game to open the weekend against a team you hate due to recent rivalry and a pitcher you want to beat is a lot of motivation for Houston to go out and take it tonight. They are jockeying for position in a tight AL West race; look for them to step on the gas here.
Leg 2: Kansas City Royals vs. Boston Red Sox
I will keep this leg short and sweet. Despite Boston being in a rough spot divisionally, they still have had a strong season and are much better than the squad they face tonight. Kansas City has the second-worst record in the league ahead of the Oakland Athletics at 41-94, and tonight, they send Jordan Lyles to the mound. Lyles is 3-15 with a 6.51 ERA this year.
