Kansas City Royals vs. Chicago White Sox Prediction: Should You Back Jordan Lyles, Royals Tonight?

Don’t let the Kansas City Royals get hot! It might be too late, as this young core continues to rake at home. The Royals have put up 19 runs against the Chicago White Sox in the first two games of this series, handing Chicago their fourth and fifth loss in a row. Tonight will be no different, as one of the worst starting pitchers in baseball takes the mound for the White Sox.

Kansas City Royals vs. Chicago White Sox Prediction

Touki Toussaint walked 21 batters in August. After a nice start to his 2023 season, the 27-year-old journeyman has completely fallen off. Tonight, he will be tasked with ending the White Sox's five-game losing streak, which won’t be easy against this Royals offense in Kansas City.

The Royals are not a good baseball team. In fact, I’d go as far as to say they’re bad. They do play significantly better at home, though, especially their offense. The Royals have become almost “unbettable” on the road in 2023, but they have some value at home when they’re hot. I’d say scoring 19 runs in two games is considered hot.

Very rarely do you ever see the Royals as the betting favorite, but they’re playing the putrid White Sox. This team has completely given up hope after another failed season. Not only are they one of the most poorly run organizations in baseball, their team is filled with guys who don’t care. Yasmani Grandal got called out earlier this season for trying to leave a game early… this team has been checked out for months.

The Royals’ young core is still trying to prove themselves this season. They’re seeing the ball well, and Salvador Perez has done his job in the middle of the order all season. This offense can score off of Touki Toussaint at home.

Jordan Lyles started the season losing his first 13 decisions. He has since improved and is coming off his best start of the season, where he dealt for eight innings against the Red Sox. Seeing Jordan Lyles as the betting favorite is enough for me to back his team on the moneyline tonight, and it doesn’t hurt they will get to face an even worse opposing pitcher.

The White Sox briefly opened up a favorite against Lyles tonight before sharps steamed the Royals up to a (-120) favorite. Back the Royals on the moneyline before the odds get any juicier. Lyles might’ve figured something out against the Red Sox last week after he registered seven strikeouts in 8 innings of work, his best start of the season.
