Atlanta Braves vs. St. Louis Cardinals Prediction: Expect Fireworks in Atlanta Tonight

Well, despite an extraordinarily disappointing season for the St. Louis Cardinals, the last two nights have been enjoyable for them. The Atlanta Braves are a long-time rival with the birds on the bat, and despite having a much better season all around, they have gotten thrashed the last two nights. St. Louis always had the talent and bats to be great this season. It just never really clicked for them when they needed it to, so now we have an August full of "what could have been" nights like the last two.

Atlanta Braves vs. St. Louis Cardinals Prediction

With that said, I really like this spot for the Braves facing Adam Wainwright tonight. Uncle Charlie is one of my favorite pitchers to ever take the mound and a phenomenal St. Louis Cardinal. The man will be greatly missed, and his retirement will end in the ERA of my childhood, but it is time. The veteran has nothing left in the tank, and despite chasing career-win 200 and being so close, I do not see it happening tonight. The fastball has zero velocity behind it whatsoever, so he has relied entirely on spotting up all his pitches, which he is not doing like he used to.

This Atlanta squad has seen him plenty and are slashing .321/.374/.411 against him through 106 at-bats, and I think they get to him and let out some frustration tonight. Despite still scoring six runs in each game the last two nights, Atlanta lost both by four and five runs thanks to a plethora of offense from St. Louis. If the Cardinals can contribute anything like they have the last two nights, I think Atlanta will do the rest, and this one sails over for us again.
