Houston Astros vs. Seattle Mariners Prediction
Seattle bounced back with a massive win last night.
The Mariners' win cut the Astros' lead in the wildcard down to 0.5 games. If Seattle wins tonight, they will take the final wildcard spot. If Houston pulls off a win tonight, they will jump up 1.5 games over the Mariners.
George Kirby was lights out last night, throwing six scoreless innings.
The Astros loaded the bases with one out in the first inning and Kirby was able to wiggle out of trouble. After that first inning, Kirby was nearly untouchable.
The Houston offense scored just two runs but did string together ten hits.
Jose Altuve was the star of the game, going 3-5 while driving in one of the two Astro runs.
All-star outfielder Kyle Tucker continued his strong season, going 2-3 from the dish.
Cal Raleigh and Ty France led the way for the Mariners with two hits a piece.
All together, Seattle mustered together eight hits in the winning effort.
The Astros will send Southpaw Framber Valdez to the bump tonight. Valdez is 12-11 with an ERA of 3.39 on the season.
The Mariners will send young right-hander Bryce Miller to the mound. Miller is 8-6 with an ERA of 4.17.
Houston Astros vs. Seattle Mariners Pick
We are two for two so far picking in this series and will go three for three tonight.
Valdez is the more experienced arm that has pitched in high-leverage spots in the past.
Miller has a bright future ahead of him, but we do not know how he will perform with this much pressure.
Valdez has pitched well on the road this year with an 8-3 record and an ERA of 3.42. The Mariners lineup is batting .240 against Valdez in 121 at-bats.
