Well the MLB post season seems to fly through the first two rounds but we are now in the heart of October and this is where things really turn magical. There are now just four teams remaining, eight wins away from glory with a dream on the line. The American League Championship Series is underway this afternoon as the Texas Rangers head into Game 2 with a 1-0 lead in the series over the Houston Astros.

Texas Rangers vs. Houston Astros Prediction
Framber Valdez has the ball for Houston and the Southpaw has been exceptional this season, especially at home. At Minute Made Park this season, Valdez is sporting a 3.35 ERA, 5.45 K/BB ratio and is striking out north of 26% of batters faced while keeping HR/9 sub 0.7. The veteran knows this is a big spot to keep his team in the seat to win and I expect the lefty to go out and throw the ball with purpose today.
Nathon Eovaldi has struggled immensely against this Houston lineup and I would be shocked to see him dominate today. On 111 at bats, Houston is slashing for an incredible line of .315/.372/.667 for an OPS of 1.039. They have a 2/1 K-BB ratio against him and just shy of the 1/3 of the hits he has given up to this team (11/35) have been long balls. This is a huge spot for Eovaldi to have to control a lethal, hungry lineup and I think he struggles to do so today.
I am torn on this series. Both squads are exceptional and deserve to go to the World Series. In my heart I am rooting for Texas in the end an I would love to see this series go to seven regardless of who wins but I think this Houston squad is far too talented with too much experience to go down 2-0.
