Arizona Diamondbacks vs Philadelphia Phillies Prediction: Will Phillies Get to Brandon Pfaadt Early in Game 7?

Tonight we are blessed with another postseason Game 7. The Arizona Diamondbacks have shown so much heart in the last four games of this series, winning three of them with their backs against the wall. Will the Diamondbacks stay hot tonight and earn another victory on the road, or will the Philadelphia Phillies bounce back with a win and consecutive World Series appearances?

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Philadelphia Phillies Prediction

Instead of trying to decide which team advances to the World Series, let me give you my favorite player prop in this contest. Brandon Pfaadt is coming off a legacy performance, racking up nine strikeouts in 5.2 innings pitched. When Torey Lovullo pulled Pfaadt from that outing, it seems like he was yanking him early. It ended up working out, with Arizona sneaking out a win at home in that contest.

Last night, Merrill Kelly was the reason Arizona won this game, pitching five innings of one-run ball. Lovullo pulled Kelly after his fifth inning, with the camera panning to the dugout and Kelly’s comments about wanting to stay in the game. Lovullo’s reaction made it very clear; they went into that game knowing Kelly was going to have an extra-short leash, and once again, Lovullo followed through and yanked him early.

It’s clear Arizona wants to go to their bullpen early in this series, even when their starting pitcher is throwing a gem. Tonight won’t be any different, with rookie Brandon Pfaadt on the bump for Arizona. Even though he pitched debatably the best game of his MLB career in his last start, Lovullo will be looking to yank him as soon as he gets into any sort of trouble. I honestly wouldn’t be shocked if he’s planning on pulling Pfaadt after going through the lineup one time. Lovullo might not want his rookie in there for Philly to see him a second time through the lineup.

After debatably the best start of his young MLB career, Brandon Pfaadt’s pitching outs prop is set at 10.5 tonight. I’ll be shocked if Pfaadt is out there for the fourth inning at any point, especially with some left-handers at the top of the order for the Phillies. Don’t be surprised if you see Joe Mantiply enter this game once we see the Phillies’ top of the order in the third or fourth inning. Lovullo has pulled his starters early for the majority of this series, don’t expect that to change in a must-win Game 7 tonight.
