Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Texas Rangers Prediction
Texas will return to the World Series for the first time since 2011, when they lost in seven games to the St. Louis Cardinals. This squad looks nothing like it did twelve years ago, and feels like a new ball club. On the flip side, The Diamondbacks will be returning to the World Series for the first time since 2001, their first and only World Series in the young franchise's history, when they beat the New York Yankees in seven games.
Arizona almost missed the playoffs, if it wasn't for Chicago blowing that game against Atlanta they probably would not be here, but that's baseball. They have capitalized on the opportunity, took care of business early, and fought tooth and nail to steal the National League Pennant and keep Philly from returning the World Series. They have had timely hitting and great starting pitching all postseason, but have their work cut out for them here. Texas has an incredibly hot offense with a plethora of talent all throughout the roster.
Game 1 comes down to home field advantage and pitching for me. Texas sends Nathan Eovaldi to the mound, who has been nothing short of spectacular so far this postseason. Through 70 innings of career postseason work, the veteran has a 2.87 ERA and sub-one WHIP. On the flip side, Zac Gallen will try to clean up his postseason in Game 1 tonight, but is sporting a 5.24 ERA in his four postseason starts.
