I believe in Andrew Abbott and I truly think he will be a top-end starter for the Reds for years to come. That doesn’t mean I think he’s going to pitch well tonight though. The Phillies just lost an intense series to the Braves over the weekend. I’m fully expecting their bats to come out hot at home on Monday, especially considering Abbott’s struggles in the spring.
I am extremely high on Christopher Sanchez this season. There’s a reason his earned runs prop for tonight is set at o/u 1.5… Sanchez is an underrated arm in the Phillies rotation this season. With the Reds coming off a legendary comeback win on Sunday, I’m fully expecting Sanchez to catch the Reds sleeping in their first road game tonight.
It might be early in the season, but this is a great “buy low, sell high” spot. Sell the Reds after a series win against the Nationals at home coming off a walk-off, and buy-low on the Phillies after losing two of their first three games at home to their rivals over the weekend. The Phillies will be eager to bounce back after a series loss to the Braves, building on their momentum from their 5-4 victory yesterday.
Cincinnati was able to out-hit the Nationals in their first series, getting away with a shaky-looking bullpen. They won’t be able to get away with their poor bullpen against the Phillies in this series. Philadelphia has one of the best bullpens in baseball. Once Sanchez comes out of this game, the Phillies will still have an advantage in the later innings. Even if the Reds have a lead late, I wouldn’t be shocked to see Alexis Diaz blow another save; he’s struggled mightily all spring. My point is, the Phillies will be in this game until the last pitch. You should feel confident with your money on the Phillies in this spot.
Back Philadelphia on the moneyline tonight against Andrew Abbott and the Reds. It won’t be a popular pick considering how trendy both the Reds and Abbott have been, but it’s a winner. Lock it in; I’ll meet you at the cash counter.
