Colorado Rockies vs. Chicago Cubs Prediction: Can Cubs Dominate Against Kyle Freeland, Rockies?
Baseball is a weird sport. It's different from the others in the sense that each ballpark is different. Depending on which city you play in or if your team's stadium has a roof or not can impact how games turn out simply because of the weather. Wrigley Field is probably the stadium that is most-impacted by its outside surroundings in all of sports. We saw how the wind affected play yesterday with only two earned runs in the entire game. Will tonight’s game play out similarly?

Colorado Rockies vs. Chicago Cubs Prediction
Looking at the total on the rise from o/u 7 to o/u 8.5 tells me everything I need to know about how this game is going to play out. If the oddsmakers aren’t worried about the weather, why should we? Kyle Freeland is pitching tonight for the Rockies, and he couldn’t even make it through the third inning in his first start of the season. The public is overreacting to the weather in this game because it’s being played at Wrigley Field. That shouldn’t overshadow who is on the mound, and with the total moving up nearly two runs, it seems like oddsmakers are starting to agree.
Kyle Freeland has been on the decline for the past couple of seasons. After posting an ERA over 5.00 in 2023 and giving up twenty combined runs and hits last week, it doesn't seem like the 30 year old is getting any better. He is going to have his hands full on Tuesday night against a Cubs lineup that looks like it’s finally starting to get going. Luckily for Freeland, the Cubs’ pitching situation isn’t ideal for Tuesday night’s contest either. Javier Assad will be opening for Chicago, but he’s only going to pitch a few innings. They are going to have to rely heavily on their bullpen tonight, which is a big ask.
There’s a chance the wind actually helps this total soar over. Right now, the wind is projected to be blowing out to right field up to 15mph at times. Sure, it’s going to be cold out which isn’t ideal for scoring, but I trust one of these two pitchers to get lit up by a hungry offense still trying to get going after a slow start. All it’s going to take for this game to go over is one of these two starters/bullpens to blow up. I could very well see Freeland getting pulled before the 5th inning once again, or the Cubs bullpen getting roughed-up late in this one. Whether there’s wind/cold weather or not, runs will find a way to get manufactured in this matchup.
After watching a snooze fest between these two teams yesterday, bet on the over in tonight’s rematch. These offenses are poised for a breakout performance regardless of some cold weather. Bet the over before the total rises any higher.
