Let’s face it, the New York Yankees look like a completely different ball-club with the addition of Juan Soto at the top of their lineup. I don’t like it one bit, but at the end of the day you have to call a spade a spade. After starting 5-0 for the first time since the nineties, will the Yankees continue streaking in Arizona, or will the snakes bite back after a 5-2 loss?

NEW YORK YANKEES VS. ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS PREDICTION
The most impressive part of their undefeated start is that they are doing all of this without Gerrit Cole. Will the Yankees rotation stay this sharp for the first half of the season without their ace? They are going to need guys like Nestor Cortes to step up immensely. He will be taking the mound against Arizona tonight for his second start of the season. The left-hander struggled on Opening Day, but hung in there for five innings against a potent Astros lineup. Although some would say “Nasty Nestor” has fallen off since his elite 2021 and 2022 campaigns, we know he is capable of much more than he showed last season and on Opening Day.
The Diamondbacks will be rolling out Zac Gallen to the mound on Tuesday, who many would call their ace. Gallen didn’t look extremely sharp in his Opening Day outing, but he held the Rockies to three hits and only one earned run in five innings of work. The 28 year old was able to navigate through walks and only three strikeouts against the measly Rockies. He will face a much tougher test than Colorado in his second start of the season...
Juan Soto is slashing nearly .500 this season. He’s going to face one of the luckiest pitchers in baseball statistically from the 2023 season on Tuesday night. I love to bet contrarian and fade big names, but I’ve also seen this locked-in version of Soto before. It’s been a couple of years, but the best hitter in baseball finally looks healthy and locked in to start the season, focused on baseball and not which team he might end up on next season. I’m willing to bet he has a big impact on tonight’s game against Gallen and the Diamondbacks.
Last season, I watched Zac Gallen get away with everything on the mound. He truly was one of the luckiest pitchers I’ve ever watched, with a great defense behind him as well. We typically see the luckiest players come back down to Earth at some point, and after watching him pitch against the Rockies last week I truly wasn’t impressed. With the Yankees catching nearly fifteen cents of steam on the moneyline, it looks like oddsmakers are seeing the same things I am with Gallen.
If the Yankees were going to lose this game because of a Gallen masterclass, the total wouldn’t be sitting at nine and on the rise. That’s pretty much the only way I see Arizona winning this game against this red-hot Yankees lineup. The craziest part is, Aaron Judge hasn’t even gotten-in on the action yet, batting a measly .143 through the first five games. I have a feeling he gets going in a hitters-friendly ballpark tonight. Fade Arizona with their ace on the mound and back the Yankees to continue their winning streak. As much as I dislike this team, they have come out of the gates looking like the best team in baseball.
