It hasn’t been quite the start the Astros were looking for in 2024. They are currently 1-5 and some of their best players like Yordan Alvarez have yet to get going. All it might take is a matchup against Chris Bassitt to get Houston active…

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Houston Astros Prediction
Chris Bassitt struggled in his 2024 debut. The Blue Jays veteran has seen better days, and a matchup against Yordan and the Astros isn’t going to do him any favors. The Astros are starving for a win, and a lot of their lineup has seen Bassitt 15 or 20 times before. Yordan actually owns a career .333 batting average with 4 home runs against Bassitt. If he hangs one of those sinkers up in the zone, Yordan isn’t going to miss it.
A matchup against Bassitt could be exactly what the Astros need to get going offensively. Luckily for Toronto, they won’t be the only offense participating in this late-night contest. You could tell last night’s comeback victory against Houston was a big one for the Blue Jays, and I’m expecting them to carry that momentum into tonight’s rubber match.
If Cristian Javier was going to follow up his 6-inning shutout against the Yankees on Friday with another gem, don’t you think the total would be a little lower? Houston has failed to put up more than 3 runs in 4 of their last 5 games, all at home. With that in mind, oddsmakers set this total at 9 after a 2-1 snoozefest yesterday. Either Bassitt is getting obliterated for 10+ runs, or it will be both of these offenses showing up in the same game for the first time this season. Either way, this game is finding a way to go over its total.
Nearly 75% of the bets and over 60% of the handle is currently backing this game to go under the total. With all those bets piling up on the under, the total has yet to budge. This is a great sign for over bettors on Wednesday, as the books are clearly content with being over-exposed on the under. As they continue to bring in bets on the under, fade the public and lock-in the over for tonight. There’s a reason it’s sitting at 9 after Javier’s legacy start against the Yankees…
