Best MLB Home Run Bets: Lock In This Expert's Best MLB Player Prop Bets for Friday

Unfortunately, Willson Contreras got the day off against the Marlins yesterday despite having a really good matchup. His backup catcher, Ivan Herrera, got the start and ultimately hit a home run in the clean-up spot, where Contreras would've been.

That will happen occasionally with catchers. We'll move on to today's MLB slate! Here are three players who can launch a homer in today's slate.

April 5 Best MLB Home Run Props

Yandy Diaz to Hit a Home Run (+350) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds

We'll start with Yandy Diaz to go yard. Diaz had 143 plate appearances against lefties last year. In those plate appearances, he slugged a .304 ISO and wOBA of .456 with just 16.1% of strikeouts.

He'll lead off for the Rays against Colorado's starter Austin Gomber. Gomber is a left-handed thrower who has only struck out 14.9% of righties. He also allowed a .500 ISO and wOBA of .496 to his first 17 righties this year, with just 11.8% of strikeouts.

Diaz hasn't had much success against lefties to start the season. However, he's still struck out just 11.1% of the time against lefties this year. It's only a matter of time before Diaz launches one against a lefty. This is the spot to do it.

Alec Bohm to Hit a Home Run (+600) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds

Here's a fun little long-shot bet.

Alec Bohm smacked a .280 ISO and wOBA of .389 against 177 lefties last year. He's in line to face Patrick Corbin of the Nationals, a lefty who struggled against righties last year.

Corbin allowed a .198 ISO and wOBA of .367 to 650 righties. He also debuted in 2024, allowing a .375 ISO and wOBA of .485 to 16 righties. Corbin isn't a high strikeout thrower and finished his first start of the season with a .412 ISO and wOBA of .540 to 18 batters.

Meanwhile, Bohm only struck out 14.7% of the time against lefties and hit 26.2% of line drives with 48.9% of hard contact. He could smack a line drive home run against Corbin tonight.

Marcell Ozuna to Hit a Home Run (+310) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds

Marcell Ozuna was one of the best power hitters in the game last year. He hit a .344 ISO and wOBA of .403 against 144 lefties the previous season, with just 17.4% of strikeouts.

This year, he's already found success against lefties, hitting a .333 ISO to begin the year.

He'll face Tommy Henry of the Diamondbacks, who is a lefty starter who allowed a .300 ISO and wOBA of .438 to 12 righties in his first game of the season. Last year, Henry struck out just 18% of righties and allowed a .156 ISO and wOBA of .320.

He doesn't induce a high rate of ground balls but gave up more than 30% of fly balls to righties last year. Let's ride Ozuna to the bank.
