We hit our first hit parlay of the season with Trey Turner and Ronald Acuna Jr. the other night and I’ve cooked up another two player parlay for tonight with two of the game’s biggest stars. Let’s break it down.
MLB Hit Parlay
Leg 1: Mookie Betts to RECORD A HIT
Mookie Betts was a close runner up for the NL MVP last season as Ronald Acuna Jr. narrowly edged him out for the award, but Betts still had an incredible season. He has gotten off to a blazing start this season as he is ranked first in the MLB and nearly every major offensive category through the first week of the season. That is also coming off a bit of a cold stretch as he has not gotten a hit in his last two games as he has gone 0-6 during that time against the Cubs. Well, six at bats is an extremely small sample size and during his last teo games he has only struck out once while also walking three times, so while he didn’t get a hit, he was still having quality at bats and making solid contact.
Tonight Betts and the Dodgers will go up against the twins whose starter, Bailey Ober, was hammered last time out against the Royals as he could not even make it past the second inning as he allowed eight earned runs in just an inning and a third of work. Ober is not an overpowering pitcher by any means as he very infrequently tops 92 to 93 mph and largely relies on his control to get outs. The Dodgers lineup is one of the more potent lineups in all of baseball and Betts is the head of the snake as he typically hits lead off and should see at minimum five at bats in this contest against Minnesota. I think that Betts has a big bounce back game against the twins and think there is a great chance for him to tally at least one hit tonight.
Leg 2: Ronald Acuna Jr. to RECORD A HIT
Acuna made us sweat last time out as he tallied his hit in the bottom of the eighth inning which was likely his last bat of the game, but still cashed for us nonetheless in our first hit parlay of the season with Trea Turner. Acuna’s incredible combination of power and speed makes him an easy target to tally a hit by a variety of ways. He can get on from an infield single, belt a double, or have a three home run game. He is coming off of a poor performance his last time out against the Diamondbacks where he went 0-4 with two strikeouts.
Acuna, like Betts, also hits leadoff and should see a minimum of five at bats tonight and gets a favorable matchup against longtime journeyman and former Atlanta Brave, Julio Teheran. Teheran is not a fireballer by any means and largely relies on his control to get outs, which makes him more susceptible to mistakes in the middle of the plate. I think Acuna bounces back tonight with the solid performance and should be able to tally at least one hit against Teheran and this Mets staff.
