The Mets have really struggled to get going in the 2024 MLB season. Maybe a series against a division rival will get their juices flowing on Monday night. The Mets will be heading to Atlanta for a 4-game series against one of baseball’s best teams. Will a matchup against this formidable Braves lineup get the Mets offense going?

New York Mets vs. Atlanta Braves Prediction
Temperatures in Atlanta are supposed to reach 70 degrees this afternoon. It might still be May, but tonight’s matchup between the Mets and Braves is going to be played in early summer conditions. This “hitter-friendly” weather will benefit both offenses on Monday evening.
Charlie Morton threw a shutout against the White Sox in his first 2024 start, but with the total on the rise from 9.5 to 10, it doesn’t look like the Braves 40-year-old will be following that start up with another gem. The Mets have seen Morton a ton, and should look more comfortable offensively in a hitter-friendly ballpark.
The Braves will be facing a very familiar name on Monday. Julio Teheran is slated to start for the Mets because of a packed early-April schedule. Atlanta is very familiar with Teheran; the veteran pitched his first nine MLB seasons for the Braves. We already know Atlanta’s lineup is potent… they should thrive against Teheran on Monday considering how familiar they are with his stuff.
I’m not expecting Teheran’s first start of the season to go particularly well in Atlanta’s 70 degree weather, but if Morton and the Braves were more of a lock on Monday, they’d be laying more than (-215) odds on the moneyline. I have a feeling the Mets bats get going in this series, and it starts with a matchup against a veteran they are very familiar with in Morton.

There are some big bets being placed on the over in Atlanta tonight, including mine. Bet this over before the total rises any higher.
