St. Louis Cardinals vs. Oakland Athletics Prediction
It was announced this morning that Cardinals and MLB legend Whitey Herzog passed away last night at the age of 92. The two time World Series champion is a member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame as well as the St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Royals Hall of Fames.
I wasn't planning on going back to the birds tonight (not as though I didn't like them, I just am happy we cashed last night) but now I will with some added motivation to honor the former Cardinal.
Lance Lynn has the ball for the Birds and while he is on the back end of his career the guy can still do a job. Lynn throws strikes, he will go right at you an it's up to you to hit it. I don't hate that approach against the team leading the league in strikeouts.
Cardinals offense is still sleeping a little bit and needs to breakout soon, I like the opportunity for the boys to swing the sticks against southpaw JP Sears. The A's lefty is sporting a 5.17 ERA so far this season and I think some of the Birds power hitters like Nolan Arenado, Paul Goldschmidt and Jordan Walker could benefit from seeing a guy from the other side today.
