After a legacy postseason run, Corbin Carroll and the Diamondbacks have gotten off to a rough start offensively in 2024. They are fresh-off a series loss to the Cubs at home, meanwhile the Giants just won a series on the road in Miami. With their “ace” Logan Webb on the bump against Arizona tonight, surely the Giants come through for moneyline bettors, right?
If bets like SF ML (-155) hit more often than they lost, Las Vegas wouldn’t look as nice and shiny as it does. The Giants look like the “easy” play for tonight’s MLB slate; you never want to bet on the easiest-looking play of the night. If the Giants were a lock to win tonight, then why are the Diamondbacks catching 15 cents of steam on the moneyline?
I’ll tell you why… it’s because the Diamondbacks are the sharp side in this contest. Seeing Ryne Nelson at (+130) on the moneyline against one of the best pitchers in the National League is eye-opening. The young right-hander is coming off the best start of his season, and has looked better in each outing he’s made in April. This could be the right time to buy-low on the 26-year-old. Looking at the odds for this game, it seems like we are in for a closer contest than most would expect with Webb on the bump for San Francisco at home.
Lock-in the Diamondbacks on the moneyline before the odds get any shorter. It’s taking the snakes a little longer to find their groove this season, but I still believe in this ball-club after what I saw out of them last season. I’m sure Joc Pederson will be eager to face his former team, and the Giants have struggled at home recently.
