Blake Snell will be making his their start of the season after his late signing in what looks like the greatest “pitchers duel” on paper in San Francisco tonight. Let me tell you why you’re not going get the low-scoring game everyone is predicting…

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. San Francisco Giants Prediction
It’s going to take Montgomery a few starts to get going until he’s locked back into mid-season form. A matchup against a Giants team that scraped together every timely hit you could think of in last night’s 5-0 victory against Arizona might not produce an ideal debut for the left-handed veteran. San Francisco prefers facing LHP with a batting average nearly 30 cents higher than when facing righties.
Jordan Montgomery has been “Mr. Consistent” in recent years, but after no spring training in what seemed to be a weirdly-late signing for a pitcher of his caliber, I wouldn’t be surprised if that throws him off in his first couple of starts in 2024. Luckily for the left-hander, his opponent on the bump tonight hasn’t figured it out this season either…
Blake Snell was the best pitcher in baseball last season, but after signing a massive contract he’s struggled to get going in his first two starts. The Diamondbacks also have a batting average that is 100 points higher against LHP than when facing RHP. I know it’s early in the season, but clearly this team is seeing the ball much better against lefties at the start of 2024. If Snell isn’t able to lock-in, he might be in for another short outing as he continues to shake the rust off.
I still believe in Blake Snell to have a great 2024 campaign. He’s notoriously gotten out to some brutal opening months of the season, but typically he ends up being on of, if not the best left-handed starter in baseball by the end of the season. We have to strike while he’s still looking to regain his Cy Young form.
The total in this game is insanely-low. It is in San Francisco which is known to be a pitcher’s park, but considering it will be Montgomery’s 2024 debut and Snell’s recent struggles, this total is simply too low. Maybe it’s because the offenses struggled in the first game of the series yesterday, barely able to get the ball out of the infield. I think it will be much different tonight with the potential for a crooked-number on the scoreboard from either team. Fade these lefties; they will start to lock-in soon, but we have to fade them and their struggling bullpens while we still can.
