We know Joe Ryan is a better starting pitcher than he’s shown this season. We’ve seen flashes of greatness, but overall he has yet to settle into mid-season form. Tonight’s matchup against the strikeout-prone White Sox could be exactly what the young righty needs to get his confidence back up. Considering Chicago’s 3-20 record, I’m sure Ryan is hyped up for a matchup against the measly White Sox on Wednesday night.
Garrett Crochet started the season strong but has been relatively inconsistent overall. Luckily for him, the Twins really struggle against left-handed pitching. This is a perfect matchup for Crochet to get back on track. With the total dropping from o/u 7 to o/u 6.5, it looks like the oddsmakers have confidence in the young lefty against this struggling Twins lineup.
Whether it’s the baseballs or the cold weather, we haven’t seen nearly as much offense early-on in 2024 compared to last year. A lot of the players have complained about the baseballs, and I wouldn’t be surprised if MLB is trying to nerf the home runs, making hitters play more “old school” and putting the ball in play. Either way, offensive numbers are down across the board, and you’re going to start seeing some lower totals, just like this one tonight.
With the total dropping, lock-in the under before the odds get any worse. I’m fully expecting a pitcher’s duel between these two electric young arms. You couldn’t ask for worse matchups for either offense during their struggles…
