Welcome to the daily hit parlay, brought to you by Calling Our Shot. I hope you all had a great weekend. Today is my mom's birthday. I let her choose the two hitters she liked the most on the MLB slate...let's dive in. (okay, I lied she doesn't watch baseball, but I will ask for her blessing today), let's cash.
MONDAY'S HIT PARLAY
LEG 1: ALEC BOHM (PHI) TO RECORD A HIT
Our first leg of the hit parlay: Alec Bohm. Bohm and the Phillies face off against the Angels today. Alec Bohm is one of the best hitters in baseball right now with a hit in 12 straight, batting .521 over that timespan. His season batting average is now a blistering .365.
Bohm faces off against Griffin Canning who allows a lot of hits. Canning has allowed 5+ hits in 4 out of 5 starts this season. Bohm bats in the four spot and should see plenty of chances since the Phillies are the road team and are guaranteed nine innings of at-bats.
Bohm is a reliable hitter. Scorching hot. We have to roll with him.
LEG 2: SHOHEI OHTANI (LAD) TO RECORD A HIT
Our second leg of the hit parlay: Shohei Ohtani. Ever heard of this guy? Yesterday, Ohtani went 0-4. He's yet to have back to back games without a hit this season. He's batting .336 as well.
Ohtani will face off against Tommy Henry and the Diamondbacks. First off, this game has a total set to 10.5, so they clearly expect some hits and runs. Let's hope Ohtani is helping. He's 1 for 2 lifetime against Henry. Henry is struggling equally as much against lefties as he is righties.
Ohtani is in the 100th Percentile for Expected Batting Average, from Baseball Savant. If he can't get it done on Henry, the Diamondbacks bullpen will have to concede a hit to Ohtani. You can't really afford to walk him with Freeman behind him. Batting in the two spot, Ohtani will deliver us a winner.
