We’ve seen even the best starting pitchers in baseball struggle in their return from injury. Who’s to say Walker Buehler won’t in his return to the mound for the Dodgers tonight? I’m not rooting on his downfall, but I certainly would be shocked if he throws a gem in his first start of the season, especially after Miami’s offensive outburst on Sunday. The Dodgers have also been known to succumbing to let-down spots, and a series against one of baseball’s worst teams at home is the definition of that scenario. I know it’s a lot to ask for the Miami Marlins to pull off the victory on Monday night, but I’m not betting them on the moneyline. Instead, let’s isolate the F5 innings in this contest. Roddery Munoz has looked sharp for the Marlins in his two 2024 starts. If he pitches like he did against Colorado last Wednesday, he can limit the damage from the Dodgers offensively in the first half of this matchup. I wouldn’t be surprised if both Munoz and Buehler end up with similar stat-lines tonight. Buehler is obviously the superior pitcher, but in his first start of the season, I could see him struggling at times as he shakes the rust off.
