Ashcraft has been substantially better away from home, recording 18+ outs in four out of five road starts. Arizona ranks 25th in wRC+ (87), 28th in batting average (.217), and 28th in isolated power (.124) against right-handed pitchers.
Ashcraft lacked command in his first start against the Diamondbacks but battled back. He was able to make some big pitches when he got into jams to give himself a chance to get through six innings despite his early struggles. He issued three walks in that start, and if he can clean up on some of those issues, he should be able to give Cincinnati a much-needed extended outing.
The Reds used six bullpen arms in the series finale vs. the San Francisco Giants, which should give Ashcraft a longer leash in this one. Trusting his road splits and backing Graham Ashcraft to record 18+ pitching outs tonight vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks.
