Aaron Civale has been a victim to giving up the long ball too many times this season. Boston is the wrong team to be facing if that’s your biggest problem as a pitcher. Expect Devers and the Red Sox to put up some runs early and often in this one. Luckily for the Rays, their offense has looked great over the last week. They will get Civale some runs support tonight as well. With both bullpens struggling, buy-low on the Red Sox offense tonight and trust the Rays to keep mashing baseballs.

Another game with a high opening line for a total is the Cubs vs Braves game on Tuesday night. Considering how well both Sale and Taillon have pitched in 2024, I was shocked to see the total open up at 8.5 with the juice heavily backing the over. Atlanta is 1-8-1 to the over in their last 10 games. Their offense has been silenced by the likes of the Red Sox, Cubs and Mets. These aren’t the best pitching staffs in baseball, but Atlanta’s offense has fizzled out after a hot start to the season. If you look around baseball, you’ll start to notice many offenses coming to life right now. Maybe it’s the weather, or maybe it’s the juiced baseballs… either way, we’re seeing offensive producing tick upward.
On Tuesday night, back the Braves offense to get going when the public least expects it against Taillon and his 1.13 ERA. Chris Sale and Jameson Taillon have both pitched extremely well of late, but I can’t get over the high opening total in this spot. Atlanta has been a hitter-friendly ballpark for years… don’t be surprised if the Braves bats come to life tonight and carry this total over the number.
