Oakland Athletics vs. Atlanta Braves Prediction
The Atlanta Braves take on the Oakland Athletics on Friday night in Atlanta and I have a player prop ladder that I really like in that game. The prop I am going to be targeting is Reynaldo Lopez strikeouts and I’ll be laddering it up to 9 strikeouts. I think the value here is too good to pass up so I am splitting up 1.45 units across the ladder.
Reynaldo Lopez started off the season hot as far as strikeouts go with 5, 6, 7, 6, 7, and 5 in his first 6 starts. He was then cruising in his next start before leaving the game with back tightness (4 Ks and 71 pitches). Since then, we’ve seen him go 83 and 70 pitches only getting 4 and 3 strikeouts. This was likely precautionary and just the Braves having him on a pitch count.
Now Lopez is on an extra day of rest, and I think we could see him bumped back close to 90 pitches if he’s pitching well. The matchup could not be better againt the Oakland A’s. They strike out the third most to righties (second most last 15 days) and have allowed opposing starters (righties pitching 3+ innings) to go over 5.5 strikeouts in 12 of the last 14 games.
Many of these pitchers climbed their ladder with Zack Littell 9, Justin Verlander 9, Cal Quantrill 8, Brady Singer 9, Seth Lugo 10, and Christian Javier 8. The A’s are likely to have a righty dominant lineup which we’ve seen in their last few games vs lefty pitchers. This bodes well for Lopez. 15 of his 18 walks this season have come to lefties, so if he won’t face as many of them, chances are he won’t walk as many batters which will keep his pitch count low.
