I am going to be targeting another righty pitcher against the Oakland Athletics today. We just cashed on Reynaldo Lopez K's ladder a few days ago, and I think we see similar success with Morton against a very strikeout prone lineup.

Morton comes into this game hitting this line in three of his last four games going for seven, eight, four, and seven strikeouts. In the one miss, he only threw 3 innings. We also can see his outs line extremely juiced to the over 17.5 outs at -150 odds, which means the books are expecting a solid six innings from him today. Morton has thrown 91+ pitches in eight of his last 10 outings, and I think we see that again here as long as he doesn't give up a ton of runs. When he goes six or more innings, he has seven or more strikeouts in 13 of his last 16 starts while averaging 8.5 Ks.
The matchup for Charlie Morton could not be much better. The A's rank second in strikeout % against right-handed pitching over the last 15 days, and they have allowed 10 of the last 14 righty starters (who pitched three or more innings) to hit seven or more strikeouts. Many of those pitchers also climbed their strikeouts ladder. Morton's best and most utilized pitch is his curveball which he throws 40% of the time. Luckily for him, Oakland really has struggled to hit curveballs.
The projected lineup for the Athletics has eight players with K% over 26% against curveballs this season, which tells me we are likely to see them struggle to make contact, big time. With these kind of numbers, I think we can expect Morton to exceed 6.5 strikeouts with a lot of potential to climb the ladder.
