The New York Mets travel to Washington D.C. on Monday to kick off a series against their division rivals the Washington Nationals. I really like the spot today for Mets hitters, specifically for Francisco Lindor and J.D. Martinez.

NEW YORK METS VS. WASHINGTON NATIONALS PREDICTION
The Mets come into this game hitting well against left-handed pitching. Over the last 15 days, they rank second in wRC+ against lefties and fifth in on base percentage. In the last three games against left-handed starting pitchers (with 4+ innings pitched) the Mets have put up eight, five, and six runs; just off the starters. A large part of this is due to the success of Francisco Lindor and J.D. Martinez who are both swinging hot bats right now.
Starting with Francisco Lindor, he has three or more total bases in five of his last 11 games with seven extra-base hits. Against the top three pitches he will see from MacKenzie Gore today (against lefties), he has the following numbers:
- against 4-Seam Fastball: .374/.832 xBA | xSLG (expected Batting Average | expected Slugging %)
- against Curveball: .368/.431 xBA | xSLG (expected Batting Average | expected Slugging %)
- against Changeup: .342/.466 xBA | xSLG (expected Batting Average | expected Slugging %)
He also has played well against D.C. going for three, five, seven, and five total bases in his last four games.
J.D. Martinez has also had success against D.C. going for four, four, two, four, and four total bases in his last five matchups. He's been absolutely crushing lefties with a .355 batting average and .258 ISO this season. Eight of his last thirteen batted balls have been hit over 97 MPH exit velocity against lefties.
Now looking at Gore's numbers this season, he has been giving up hard contact so far. He ranks in the 21st percentile in total barrels allowed this season and is also ranked in the 27th percentile in ground ball percentage which means he is allowing a lot of fly balls and line drives when allowing contact. This is what we need when targeting total bases props.
I am expecting the Mets bats to stay hot in this matchup and expect Lindor and Martinez to both go over their total bases props and ladders.
