Detroit Tigers vs. Texas Rangers Prediction
Dane Dunning has been back and forth from the bullpen and Rangers starting rotation this season, leading him to be a little inconsistent. After the worst start of his season in Philly, he followed it up with an absolute gem against the Diamondbacks in his last outing. Tonight, he will face the struggling Tigers who he’s already shoved against this season. I’m expecting another gem from Dunning in this game…
Jack Flaherty has been impressive in his first season with the Tigers, racking up the strikeouts and staying healthy (for now). He is also coming off a gem in his last outing on the road in Boston where he only allowed one hit in nearly seven innings of work. Flaherty has really locked-in over the last couple of weeks, lowering his ERA below a 3.50 on the season. The Rangers have been striking out a ton as they continue to deal with injuries… who’s to say Flaherty can’t follow up last week’s gem with another one on the road?
Nobody wants to take an under at Globe Life Field, but with the total dropping from o/u 8 to o/u 7.5 on most books, it’s certainly the sharp play in this game. I’ll take my chances with this under and pray the juiced baseballs remain locked-up at Globe Life Field for one more game. Both of these offenses have struggled mightily of late, and I want to buy stock in these starting pitchers finding success on Tuesday night in Arlington. I’ll meet you at the cash counter after this game ends 1-0 in an absolute snooze-fest.
