The Chicago White Sox take on the Chicago Cubs in the second game of this series and I am looking to target Luis Robert to go over his total bases in this matchup. Jameson Taillon will take the mound for the Cubs, and I think the matchup benefits Robert a ton.

Chicago White Sox vs. Chicago Cubs Prediction
Luis Robert is just coming off the IL and he returned yesterday and went 2 for 4 and hit a 448-foot home run. Robert has played insanely well against the Cubs throughout his career and his cleared two total bases in eight of his last nine matchups with them. Against the Cubs in his career, he is hitting .389 with six home runs in 54 total at bats. I am expecting this trend of success against Chicago to continue here tonight.
The matchup looks great for Robert against Jameson Taillon in my opinion. Taillon likes to throw three pitches against right-handed batters, that being his sweeper, cutter, and 4-seam fastball. Although a small sample size against right-handed pitching this season, Robert has had great numbers against these pitches. See his numbers below:
- Against Sweeper: .499 xBA/2.00 xSLG (expected batting average | expected slugging %)
- Against 4-Seam: .327 xBA/.983 xSLG (expected batting average | expected slugging %)
- Against Cutter: .880 xBA/3.488 xSLG (expected batting average | expected slugging %)
Outside of the sweeper, Luis has hit these pitches extremely well throughout his career and I really like his odds to barrel one up against Taillon. Taillon ranks in the 38th percentile in barrels this season and is pitching much better than in years past. He ranked in the third and second percentile over the last two seasons.
Taillon has also struggled more over his last few starts. He allowed a .283 batting average in May and also allowed 6+ hits and 3+ runs in each of his last four starts. I think we see Luis have some success tonight and for his talent level and ability, +140 odds are too good to pass up here.
