Mitch Keller has been great for the Pirates recently, and they should have some confidence heading into this home series against the struggling Twins after they just beat the Dodgers twice in three games. If that was the case and Mitch Keller was going to shove again, why are the Twins catching steam on their moneyline after losing three straight games? Something seems fishy with these odds…
I’m willing to bet that Joe Ryan and the Twins bounce back after getting swept in their last series. Ryan is also coming off debatably his worst outing of the season in his last start. I don’t see him struggling in back to back outings, especially against the Pirates. They might’ve shown up against the Dodgers in that last series, but the Pirates always play the Dodgers well. They have great success against them in recent years, so if anything I think the public is overreacting to their recent successes.
The Twins might’ve gotten swept by the Yankees in their last series, but it wasn’t their offense that didn’t show up. It was their pitching and bullpen that let them down in that series, not their offense. They have a great matchup against a right-hander tonight, and after losing their last three games, I feel confident backing a team that should be the more motivated one in this matchup on Friday.
Nearly 50% of the bets and handle (on VSiN) are currently backing the Pirates to win this game. The public seems far too infatuated with Pittsburgh after a great showing against the Dodgers, but I’m expecting the Twins to catch the Pirates sleeping in the first game of this series. Fade the public underdog and back the Twins as a favorite to stop their skid and earn a victory on Friday. I wouldn’t be surprised if they put up a crooked number against Keller early on in this one…
