The Rays have struggled to get going in 2024. They’ve lost four of their last five games. The Cubs were hot to start out the season, but have since fallen into an offensive slump much like the Rays. With two of their best young starters on the bump, which team will come out victorious in the third and final game of this series on Thursday?

Chicago Cubs vs. Tampa Bay Rays Prediction
Don’t be fooled by Taj Bradley’s ERA, he’s missed a big chunk of the season due to injury, but is coming off his most promising outing of the season against the Orioles. Bradley has faced some of the best offenses in baseball this year… a matchup against the Cubs could be exactly what the young flamethrower needs.
Justin Steele hasn’t looked as sharp this season, Until we see him return to mid-season 2023 form, I qm going to continue fading his team when he’s on the bump. The odds are simply too good, as Steele is still getting line respect like it’s last season. He’s gotten hit up in more starts than he hasn’t in 2024, and he hasn’t even faced that great of opponents yet. Tonight’s matchup against a hungry Rays team that needs a win badly isn’t ideal for the young lefty, especially considering how shaky he’s looked this season.
The Rays blew the lead late in last night’s contest against Chicago. I’m fully expecting their bats to come back to life in the final game of this series, much like they did in game one. Until I see the Cubs offense show some signs of life, or Justin Steele return to peak form, I will continue fading this struggling Cubs team. It’s only a matter of time before the Rays get red-hot, especially at home. Buy-low on Taj Bradley on Thursday, and I’ll meet you at the cash counter after he outperforms Steele when the public least expects it.
