DETROIT TIGERS VS. HOUSTON ASTROS PREDICTION
The Astros don’t mind facing left-handed pitching. In fact, some might argue they are actually better against lefties this season. I trust this veteran lineup to put up some great at bats against one of the best young arms in baseball tonight. With Skubal pitching on the road against some of the smartest, oldest hitters in baseball, I’m willing to bet they find some success against the young lefty on Friday.
Hunter Brown might have an ERA above 5.50, but he’s pitched much better recently. The Tigers offense has also been nonexistent against RHP in recent weeks. After a nice start to the season, this young Tigers offense has struggled mightily over the last month or so. Considering their recent struggles and Hunter Brown’s improvements in his past four outings, I want to buy low on the Astros and their shaky starter in this spot.
Nobody wants to bet on Hunter Brown and the measly Astros against a potential Cy Young candidate. If Hunter Brown wasn’t going to pitch well on Friday, the total wouldn’t be dropping to o/u 7 on most books, with the juice loose on the under. The dropping total is only making me feel more confident in the Astros at home in this spot. I’m not worried about fading Skubal; he’s been known to give up a few runs to a veteran lineup a time or two…
With all the public backing Skubal against the struggling Astros on Friday, fade the public and back Hunter Brown to continue improving. He has sneakily been one of the best pitchers in baseball over the last month or so, and is coming off a two-hit gem against the Angels in his last start. I’m confident Brown will be able to hang with Skubal in this matchup, and with the struggling Astros catching steam on the moneyline with the public hammering Detroit, this reverse line movement is a great sign for Astros backers…
