On Sunday afternoon, two teams in the hunt for the NL Wildcard face off in the final game of their series. The Nationals should have won the first two games, but they blew game one after a five run lead. Lane Thomas and Juan Yepez will be looking to hand their former team a series loss… will they pull off the victory on Sunday?

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Washington Nationals Prediction
DJ Herz will be taking the mound for Washington. He’s been relatively inconsistent in his first couple starts of his MLB career, but when he’s on, DJ is nearly unhittable. He racked up 10 strikeouts and only allowed 1 run in his last start versus the Mets (who crush left handed pitching). This afternoon, he will be facing a team that struggles mightily against lefties. Will DJ be able to take advantage of the Cardinals weakness?
I’m willing to bet we see the same version we saw of DJ against the Mets in his last outing on Sunday afternoon. This series simply means more for the young, scrappy Nats who have now called up James Wood, the #1 prospect in baseball. Their offense has seemingly awaken since calling up the left-handed star. Let’s ride the momentum of this young Nats team and back them to win this series on Sunday.
The Cardinals opened up (-125) favorites for the final game of this series. The Nationals have since been steamed up to nearly a Pick ‘Em on the moneyline. This is a great sign for Nats backers, considering less than 42% of the bets (on VSiN) are currently backing them on the moneyline. After the Nats’ offensive explosion on Saturday, let’s ride their offensive momentum and back their underrated lefty on the mound.
MacKenzie Gore has a great matchup yesterday, but you could tell he didn’t have his best stuff. If DJ is able to locate like he did against the Mets in his last outing, the Cardinals will struggle offensively in the final game of this series. Fade the Cards and back Washington and their young stars CJ Abrams and James Wood to close out this series with a win. I’ll meet you at the cash counter after another electric Washington victory.
