The Atlanta Braves and Arizona Diamondbacks meet for game three of their series tonight from Chase Field. The Braves have taken the first two games of this series and have now won four games in a row, recovering from a slump in June. The Braves are still second place in the NL east with a record of 51–39.

The Diamondbacks have gone 6–4 over their last 10, but it has still not been good enough to move them out of third place in the NL West, as they are behind the Padres and Dodgers with a 45–47 record. what should we expect in tonight‘s game?
Not much can be said for Diamondback starter Slade Cecconi. Cecconi has been struggling massively this season and has not been able to find any footing in the starting rotation. Cecconi has a 6.1 ERA on the season and has only recorded one quality start in his last 11 appearances. Tonight, Cecconi faces a Braves lineup that is coming out of a slump and has been doing much better offensively over the last week. The Braves put up five runs in game one of the series and six runs in game two, posing another threat of a bad start for Cecconi.
On the other side, Braves starter Charlie Morton appears to be doing better, but may struggle against the Diamondbacks tonight. Morton is 5–5 on the season with a 3.96 ERA. Morton has posted some great outings this year, but he has struggled to find consistency in multiple starts in a row. More over, the Diamondbacks are an extremely hard team to strike out, and they have been consistently doing well against right-handed pitching this season. The Diamondbacks are hitting .250 off Morton in 105 career at bats against him. While the diamondbacks offense has looked mostly complacent at the beginning of this series, this is a great chance for them to find some offensive rhythm tonight.
Neither starter really gives me too much confidence in tonight’s game, leading to my pick on the first five over in this spot. Cecconi should easily be good to give up at least a few runs, and I think the Diamondbacks will break Morton for at least a few early in this game as well. We can get the first five at five runs on ESPN bet, which is what I’ll be taking in this spot tonight. I think we can easily see six runs over the first five innings of this game, but at least we get the push if it were to land on five.
