The San Diego Padres will take on the Seattle Mariners at home tonight and will be looking to bounce back with a victory after losing yesterday's matchup. One of the primary reasons I'm taking the bet that I am is because who's on the mound for Seattle.

SEATTLE MARINERS VS. SAN DIEGO PADRES PREDICTION
Seattle will give Bryce Miller to the mound who has glaring road splits. Miller comes in this matchup with a 6.28 road ERA which is vastly different from his 2.10 home ERA. Over his last six starts on the road, his opponents have scored 3+ runs in every game and 4+ runs in five of the six. To keep it simply, Miller just hasn't pitched well on the road and he will have his work cut out for him today against the Padres offense.
San Diego has mashed right-handed pitchers this season currently ranking No. 2 in wRC+ (119), No. 1 in batting average (.272), and No. 4 in on-base percentage. I'm expecting the offense to capitalize on Miller's struggles on the road and put up runs tonight. The Mariners will have a tough time keeping up as they are only averaging 3.85 runs per game which is the fourth fewest in all of baseball. Seattle ranks 19th in wRC+ (95), dead last in batting average (.220), and 24th in on-base percentage against right-handed pitchers this season.
The most glaring issue for the Mariners offense is how much they are punching out. They come into this game with a 28.8% strikeout percentage which is the highest in baseball. Despite moving on from a few high-strikeout hitters this offseason, swing and misses are still a big problem. Michael King will get the start for San Diego tonight and he has been very solid for the pitching rotation. His biggest strength his season is his ability to generate strikeouts ranking in the top 80th percentile for punch outs. That should pose a major problem for the Mariners who have the highest strikeout percentage in the league. I'm expecting the Padres' offense to put up runs against Bryce Miller tonight and Michael King should avoid enough of the Mariners bats to get San Diego the win at home tonight.
