The Yankees got a much needed win last night, and are looking for their first series win in nearly a month. Will they pull it off on the road with Nestor Cortes on the mound, or will the Rays bounce back after last night’s loss?

New York Yankees vs. Tampa Bay Rays Prediction
Nestor Cortes has been solid of late, but his home/away splits are concerning. He owns a sub-2.00 ERA at home, but on the road his ERA inflates to 5.63. It won’t get much better for Cortes, as he’s facing one of the best LHP-facing teams in baseball on Thursday. I’m willing to bet the Rays rough Nestor up at the Trop as they look to steal this series from the struggling Yankees.
Shane Baz madę his first start of the season last week. After giving up some early hits, he settled down and logged a quality start on the road against the defending World Series Champions. I liked what I saw out of Baz, who is one of the most highly-touted pitching prospects in the Rays organization. I like his chances against this struggling Yankees lineup.
The Yankees are way too reliant on the top of their batting order. When Aaron Judge and Juan Soto aren’t both locked in, this team has trouble putting up runs. Right now, Aaron Judge is starting to cool off. He’s one of the streakiest hitters in baseball, and you can tell he’s struggling a bit this week. Juan Soto can’t provide all the offense for the Yankees by himself. Fade the rest of this struggling Yankees lineup, and back the Rays young ace to shine in his second outing of the season.
The Yankees opened up (-130) favorites before the Rays got steamed to nearly a Pick ‘Em. That is an interesting move considering the Rays are currently getting less than 25% of the bets on their moneyline (per VSiN). Fade the public and back the Rays, who are catching some serious steam on Thursday night. I’ll meet you at the cash counter when the Yankees lose another series.
