MONDAY'S PARLAY
LEG 1: RANGER SUAREZ (PHI) UNDER 2.5 EARNED RUNS
Our first leg of the Parlay: Ranger Suarez to allow two Earned Runs or less. Last week, we ended the week with two pitchers each to go UNDER 2.5 Earned Runs (each pitcher allowed 0). Today, we begin the week with the same recipe with Ranger Suarez.
Suarez has allowed 3+ ER in three straight starts…then why are we backing him today? Simple. He likely sees the return of JT Realmuto behind the plate. JT returned on Saturday, then got Sunday off. He should be active today catching for Ranger, which is very important.
This season, Suarez is allowing a .181 BA with a 1.81 ERA with JT catching. With Marchan (the backup catcher), Ranger has a 4.98 ERA with a .296 BA allowed (see why we need JT back there). Additionally, the Twins have struggled vs. Lefties. In the last 14 days, they are bottom five in BA, OPS & wRC+ vs. LHP. Ranger will hold it down.
LEG 2: YONNY CHIRINOS (MIA) 4+ HITS ALLOWED
Our second leg of the Parlay: Yonny Chirinos to allow 4+ hits. We also like Yonny at his normal hits allowed line of 5.5 which is something he’s over in four of five starts this season. We’re taking the alternate over 4+ hits just in case the Mets walk a little more than usual, which they are always capable of doing.
Chrinos should see at least five innings in the game, and the Mets will have plenty of chances to tag him for four hits. The Mets were atrocious at the plate yesterday failing to put the ball in play and striking out a total of 14 times. After a game where the hitters are whiffing like that, there will be an added emphasis on putting the ball in play today. Hopefully the ball finds some gaps and those hits come against Yonny!
