Welcome to the daily parlay, brought to you by Calling Our Shot. Yesterday, our parlay lost thanks to Ranger Suarez. He looked so good through the first few innings before his implosion happened, ending with 3 Earned Runs. Today, let's bounce back.
TUESDAY'S PARLAY
LEG 1: COOPER CRISWELL (BOS) OVER 14.5 OUTS
Our first leg of the Parlay: Cooper Criswell OVER 14.5 Outs (aka we need 5 Innings from him tonight). Criswell returned to the starting rotation on July 12th and pitched 6 Innings. He gave up 9 Hits and 5 ER but still got the job done.
Tonight, the Red Sox need as much length as they can get from him. They used 6 relievers yesterday (including 2 for the 2nd straight day). They are also down Kenley Jansen in this series. Criswell will be given all the opportunities to throw 5+ Innings here. Criswell is not the most efficient guy in the world, but with a pitch count likely in the 90s, I believe he can get us 5 Innings here. Rockies are below average in Pitches Per Plate Appearance too.
LEG 2: SHOHEI OHTANI (LAD) TO RECORD A HIT
Our second leg of the Parlay: Shohei Ohtani to Record a Hit. Ohtani went hitless last night. That wasn’t a huge shock to me as he was facing Blake Snell who (1) loves walking guys & (2) has been very tough on lefties. Today, we get a much better matchup against Jordan Hicks.
Hicks throws his sinker over 50% of the time…which is why I love this matchup. Ohtani is batting .424 off Righty Sinkers this season (his best against any pitch). Hicks does have a tendency to walk lefties, but Ohtani is looking to do damage at the plate. He will get pitches to hit and he will be swinging. Love Ohtani in this spot tonight!
