Cincinnati Reds vs. Atlanta Braves Prediction
Chris Sale will be taking the mound for the Braves on Tuesday. He is now the betting favorite to win the NL Cy Young award, but tonight’s matchup might not go as well as it looks on paper. After getting swept by the Nationals in DC, the Reds brought the energy in the first game of this series yesterday. They earned a win, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the stole another one tonight…
Nick Martinez is getting the start for Cincinnati after some bullpen appearances. He’s been a pleasant surprise for the Reds this season, and could even be a key trade piece at the deadline. I’m expecting Martinez to shut down this struggling Braves lineup once again. He is a much different pitcher than Hunter Greene who shoved last night, but Martinez has been extremely effective in recent weeks. Who knows how long he will be able to pitch, but I like his chances against a Braves lineup missing some key players.
The Reds are still hanging around in the NL Wildcard race. Nobody expects them to win this game against Chris Sale. With more than 80% of the bets (on VSiN), you’d think the odds would be moving towards the Braves. The Reds have actually moved from (+200) to (+170) on the moneyline. That reverse line movement is a great sign for Reds backers. With all the bets piling on the Braves at home, the odds are moving in the opposite direction…
The Reds looked like the better team in the first game of the series yesterday. Until we see the Braves wake up, let’s continue to fade them. They look like one of the most fraudulent teams in the National League. I’ll meet you at the cash counter when the Reds scrape together some early runs against Sale and the Reds win their second game in a row on the road.
