Friday night baseball, gotta love it! Tonight we're heading back to St. Louis, Missouri for a National League for a clash between the Washington Nationals (47-56) and the St. Louis Cardinals (53-49) at Busch Stadium. This is the second meeting between these two squads this season. Earlier this month they squared off in a four game set in D.C. where the Birds took three of four, outscoring Washington 14-3 in the final two games of the series.

Washington Nationals vs. St. Louis Cardinals Prediction
I think this is just a really good spot for the Cardinals, a Friday night game at home against a sinking ship when you need to string together wins. There is not a team in the NL Central that could not fight their way into a playoff spot right now. Second place is wide open with the Cubs, Pirates and Reds all within five games of St. Louis, and even the Brewers aren't safe in first place if a squad gets hot. Divisional games are the most important obviously, but you have to beat inferior opponents regularly if you wanna keep pace, and the Nationals are just that.
They have impressed me this season no doubt, a lot of young guys battling for roster/starting roles and a career in the bigs and they have battled, 47-56 would honestly have them a hot streak away from a chance in a different division but they haven no shot at chasing down the Mets, Braves and Phillies. They were no-hit on Thursday, and face Sonny Gray Friday, this looks like another rough road trip for the Nats, who I assume are already testing the market to sell the valuable parts of the team.
