Seth Lugo got roughed up in his last outing against the Cubs. He’s looked more hittable since the All-Star Break, and the Tigers will be hungry to avenge their recent losses against the Royals. I’m willing to bet we see Lugo struggle once again and he continues to regress as the season progresses.
Keider Montero hasn’t pitched much better than Lugo of late. The 24 year old starter has given up 5 earned runs in each of his last three starts, but to be fair he did face some of the more potent offenses in baseball during that stretch. Expect a bounce back start from Montero at home on Thursday, the Royals might have looked solid the last two nights but they’ve struggled on the road for the majority of the season.
The Royals opened up heavy favorites in this game, but the Tigers have since caught steam on the moneyline. Detroit is now only (+130) on the moneyline most places, a price that seems short facing an All Star pitcher on a potential playoff team that’s won the first two games of this series.
