Oakland Athletics vs. New York Mets Prop Pick: Can Brent Rooker Go Yard Against Former Teammate?
Oakland Athletics vs. New York Mets Prop Pick: Can Brent Rooker Go Yard Against Former Teammate?
We have an absolutely loaded Tuesday MLB slate here today, and I have a homerun play that I am loving for it. I will be using my DraftKings +100 odds surge boost on it as well. We didn't have any luck on yesterday's dinger pick, but I have confidence we can bounce back and that this one can come through and cash us out. Today, I will be looking at the Oakland Athletics and New York Mets game, and I'm going to be targeting A's slugger, Brent Rooker. I like him to hit a home run vs. Paul Blackburn and the Mets, and I think we are getting a great price for it as well!

Oakland Athletics vs. New York Mets Prediction
Paul Blackburn takes the mound for the New York Mets today and he is someone that I like to target for opposing hitters home run props. He has allowed nine homeruns this year, with six of those coming to right-handed batters (which is a much higher rate than to lefties), which is one reason I decided to look into Rooker. Additionally, Blackburn ranks in the 27th percentile in expected batting average allowed and ranks in the 35th percentile in barrel% allowed which is well below average.
One of the biggest reasons I love Rooker in this spot is how well he hits Blackburn's pitch mix. Blackburn likes to throw sliders, sinkers, 4-seam fastballs, and cutters primarily to right-handed batters which sets up perfectly for Rooker. Below you can see his home run numbers vs. these pitches (vs. right-handed pitching):
- vs. Slider (Rooker's best): 7 Homeruns in 61 Plate Appearances (11.5% HR to PA Rate)
- vs. Sinker: 4 HRs in 63 Plate Appearances (6.3% HR to PA Rate)
- vs. 4-Seam Fastball: 4 Homeruns in 109 Plate Appearances (3.7% HR to PA Rate)
- vs. Cutter: 1 Homerun in 22 Plate Appearances (4.5% HR to PA Rate)
These numbers really stick out and pop to me. Additionally, Rooker has a nice Tuesday trend going for him as he has now homered in four of the last six Tuesday games, and also has seven home runs in his last 11 road games. After considering all factors, I have a ton of confidence that Brent Rooker will send one out of the park tonight.
