Framber Valdez has been piling up the strikeouts lately with 32 strikeouts in his last three starts. The Astros left-hander will face an A’s team that strikes out at a high rate against southpaws. The Rockies have had a miserable season, but Hunter Goodman has been one of the best catchers in baseball and the offense has been one of the best in June. Both have player props that stand out.

Valdez is getting more strikeouts this season with a career-high 26.7% strikeout rate. His curveball has a 47.4% whiff rate, the changeup has a 30.1% whiff rate and the slider is 28.6%. Valdez has at least nine strikeouts in three straight games, including 11 and 12 in the last two games. He has 37 strikeouts over his last 27 innings.

The Astros left-hander has at least six strikeouts in nine of his 14 starts. He tends to go deeper in games with at least six innings pitched in 10 starts. The A’s have struggled against left-handed pitching with a 24.7% strikeout rate. Over the last 30 days, they are at 26.3%, which is the seventh-worst in baseball. In June, the A’s are striking out 29.4% of the time against southpaws.

Goodman has been one of the biggest surprises in baseball this season. The Rockies haven’t had many bright spots, but Goodman has been one of them. The catcher is hitting .285 with 38 runs, 14 home runs, 46 RBIs and an .849 OPS.

In 15 games this month, Goodman is slashing .350/.361/.850 with 13 runs, seven home runs and 15 RBIs with a .508 wOBA. Goodman has three home runs in the first two games of the series against the Nationals and the weather conditions are one of the best on the slate. Goodman has gone over this prop in 10 of his last 13 starts.

The Rockies offense has been one of the best in June. They rank fifth in wOBA (.340), fifth in OPS (.772), sixth in OBP (.338) and third in walk rate (10.3%). Goodman gets a good matchup against Nationals left-hander Mitchell Parker, who has a 4.84 ERA and 1.35 WHIP. He has a 15.6% strikeout rate, 9.7% walk rate and a 48.5% hard hit rate, which ranks in the seventh percentile. He is in the 14th percentile of xERA and 18th percentile of xBA. Parker has allowed at least three earned runs in eight of his last nine starts and seven home runs over the last five starts.
