7 minFriday's NBA Player Prop Cheat Sheet: Targeting Marcus Smart, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and More
There are four props today that I will be playing individually. All four of these players have been consistent to start the season, and they all have favorable matchups going into tonight's matchups. The four players we will be targeting for tonight are Marcus Smart, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Chet Holmgren, and Jalen Brunson.
November 3 Best NBA Prop Picks
1. Marcus Smart Over 1.5 Steals (-145)
Marcus Smart was the 2021 Defensive Player of the Year and is leading the NBA early on with 3.2 steals per game. He has hit this number five out of five games this season. Tonight, Memphis will go on the road to face the Portland Trail Blazers who are missing Simons and Henderson their true top point guards.
Likely to fill in tonight is Smarts' old teammate Malcolm Brodgon who is currently averaging 1.6 turnovers a game as a backup. As a team, Portland averages 15.8 turnovers a game, which is ranked 24th in the NBA. The Grizzlies have had a disastrous start this season, but Smart is looking at another run for Defensive Player of the Year.
2. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope Over 9.5 Points (-124)
Pope averaged 10.8 points per game last season and is averaging 9.8 through the first five games this season. Kyrie Irving is currently listed as a game time decision, but I'm still not concerned even if he does play. Dallas is allowing the second most points to the shooting guard position this season and as a matter of fact, they are not playing much defense as a whole. I think with the home advantage we'll see Pope go over 9.5 points.
3. Chet Holmgren Over 2.5 Assists (+145)
The big man has hit this number in two out of his last two games and averaging 2.2 assists per game. The Golden State Warriors allow the most assists to Centers in the league averaging 7.09 assists a game this season. Now the number is slightly skewed after playing Sabonis twice, however, all centers have gone over this number. My only concern with this play is that Shai will not be tonight for the Thunder which worries me about the points total, but at plus money, this opportunity is too good to pass down.
4. Jalen Brunson Over 4.5 Assists (-130)
In five games this season, Brunson is averaging 3.8 assists to start the year. Last year, he averaged 6.2 assists on the season. The Knicks have not had an easy schedule at all to start the season though. However, we've seen point guards not have any issues diming the ball against the Bucks this year.
Previous point guards versus the Bucks:
- Tyrese Maxey: eight assists
- Kyle Lowry: four assists
- Trae Young: 11 assists
- Dennis Schroder: 11 assists
