The Wizards finally made the move they should have made last year… they fired their head coach Wes Unseld Jr. If he wasn’t the son of the greatest player to ever suit it up for the Wizards, he would have probably been fired sooner. In their first game since firing Unseld Jr., will the Wizards show some heart tonight and cover against the Utah Jazz?

One of my favorite systems of all time is betting on the team who recently fired their head coach in their next game. Most bettors are too scared to take these struggling teams after letting their coach go, but if you look back at recent teams in this spot, it is profitable.
The Bucks just won and covered their first game with Doc Rivers as their new coach. DePaul covered last night against one of the best teams in the country after firing Coach Stubblefield. Although betting on the struggling Bucks and Blue Demons looked sketchy, these teams tend to cover in their first game with their new coach.
These superstar athletes are people too; sometimes we tend to forget that. The Wizards are the worst team in the NBA, and that’s been the case for the better part of the last two seasons. I’m sure every single player on the Wizards will be looking to impress their organization, pinning the blame on their former coach. You’d be surprised how many times these teams cover in these spots…
The Wizards have no business getting less than 10 points on the spread in this matchup. They have lost 10 of their last 11 games, including losses to the Pistons and Spurs. It can’t get any worse for this Wizards team… don’t be surprised if we see a much more motivated effort from the home team tonight.
It’s not like the Jazz have looked great recently, either. They are coming off three straight losses, and are only 7-17 on the road this season. With the public slamming the Jazz in a bounce back spot against the Wizards, fade the public and back the struggling home team after firing Coach Unseld Jr. I wouldn’t be surprised if they win this game outright.
