Toronto Raptors vs. Detroit Pistons Prediction
The Pistons and Raptors face off tonight at 7:00 pm. The Pistons enter play with a record of 11-53 and on a one-game winning streak (when you only have 11 on the season, it’s important to point these things out). The Raptors enter play with a 23-42 record, and in the midst of a 4-game losing streak. So why I am troubling you with an NBA play in a game that features two teams who have no chance of making of the playoffs? This is the NBA… anything can happen on any given night.
Desperate to create a culture of winning, the Pistons are the rare 50+ loss team that’s actually trying to win games. Gone are the days of the NBA record losing streak for this bunch. Besides Cade and Jalen Duren, everyone else on this roster is fighting to show that they belong in the NBA (and right now it doesn’t look like they do). The Pistons have the health advantage, with only Ausar Thompson (yes I double checked to make sure he’s the twin on the Pistons) expected to miss tonight’s game at the time of writing this.
The Raptors on the other hand are in full tank mode. The Scottie Barnes injury effectively ended their season early. This starting five they are rolling out tonight is laughable, with both starting point guard Immanuel Quickley and starting shooting guard Gary Trent listed as game-time decisions. Regardless of their status, I like the Pistons' chances. Cunningham plays hard every time he steps on the court. Jalen Duren has been coming into his own lately, and Isaiah Stewart seems focused more on his career in basketball than the UFC, at least for the time being.
