New York Knicks vs. Boston Celtics Prediction: Can Josh Hart Show Up Tonight?

The New York Knicks travel to Boston tonight to take on the Celtics in the TD Garden in Massachusetts. This game will tip off at 7:30 ET on prime time on TNT and TRUTV in a massive matchup for the Knicks as we come down to the season's final few games. the Celtics have clinched first place in the Eastern Conference, so they do not have to worry about this game, but the Knicks are sitting in third place with a few teams on their trail at the moment.

New York Knicks vs. Boston Celtics Prediction

The Knicks are 47–32. The Cavaliers are tied with 47 wins and a half-game behind them in the standings, while the Magic and Pacers are just a game and a half behind the Knicks as well. The Knicks only have three games left, but all three will prove to be massive to decide the final standings in the Eastern Conference. Therefore, tonight’s game in Boston is potentially the most pivotal of the season for the Knicks.

With this being one of the biggest games of the season, I love backing Josh Hart in this game to step up. Josh Hart is one of the only players in the NBA averaging over 40 minutes per game since the All-Star break and is the only Knick doing so since the All-Star break. While Josh Hart is averaging just 12.3 points per game since the All-Star break, he has been extremely efficient in facilitating the offense and on the boards. Josh is averaging 10.8 rebounds (leads the team) and 6.1 assists (second to Jalen Brunson) per game since the All-Star break. He has had countless triple doubles in the past few months, including four in the month of March alone. Tonight, his rebounds + assists prop is sitting at 15.5 with plus money on the over.

Now, I understand this number can be a little bit scary since the Knicks are facing a good defense in the Boston Celtics. The Celtics have had one of the best defense in the NBA this season, but this line is still too low for Josh Hart with what he has been doing on this team over the last month and a half. Josh Hart is averaging 18.9 rebound chances per game since the All-Star break, which towers over any other Knick. On top of that, he is averaging 10.4 potential assists per game. That’s 29.3 combined potential rebounds and assists per game. We only need him to convert a little over half of his average in this spot tonight. He has done so in eight of his last ten games, averaging 16.9 per game.

Additionally, the Celtics have a few banged up players, including Kristaps Porziņģis, Xavier Tillman, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Jrue Holiday. While Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum have been ruled in tonight, I wouldn’t be surprised if they play significantly fewer minutes given that the Celtics have already clinched the one seed in the east. Therefore, in a game the Knicks absolutely need to win tonight, look for Hart to play at least 40 minutes again tonight and grab 16 or more rebounds + assists.
