Golden State Warriors vs Sacramento Kings Prediction: Can Steph Curry, Warriors Advance in Play-In Tournament?

The 2024 NBA Play-In tournament is here, and it will not disappoint. Tonight, we have four great Western Conference Play-In teams vying for the last two spots of the playoffs, with all four being more than deserving. We are focused on the second game for this pick, which is between the Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors. The Kings and Warriors both finished 46–36, but the Kings hold the tiebreaker, so they will be hosting the Warriors from Golden 1 Center tonight.

GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS VS. SACRAMENTO KINGS PREDICTION

This is a rematch from the first round of last year‘s Western Conference playoffs. The third-seeded Kings played the sixth-seeded Warriors in the first round last year, but the Warriors upset them in seven games, winning on the road in Game 7. They will have to win on the road again here to keep their playoff hopes alive, as whoever loses is going to Cancun.

The Warriors had a tumultuous start to the season, as they had injuries and suspensions to some of their better players. Draymond Green served a short suspension and also battled an injury and only ended up playing 55 games this year. Chris Paul, a key player and NBA veteran who comes off the bench for the Warriors, only played 58 games.

Klay Thompson had just about the worst start to a season you could ever imagine (for his standards) but really picked it up after the All-Star break. There was a point in time near the end of January when the Warriors were 19–24. they then finished the season 27–12 from that point to earn their spot in the play-in tournament.

The Warriors are now fully healthy, except for an injury to Gary Payton II. Even with that injury, this is the healthiest and best the Warriors have looked all season, which is a perfect time considering it's playoff time. The same cannot be said for the Kings. The Kings had a much different trajectory this season than the Warriors. They started hot, and by the end of January, they were 27–18. They went just barely above .500 from that point, finishing 19–18 to finish at 46–36. The Kings have also have had some very important recent injury designations.

Malik Monk suffered a sprained right MCL back on March 30 and is out four to six weeks. Kevin Huerter suffered a shoulder injury in mid-March and is also out for the season. Huerter was a key piece defensively for the Kings and added 10.2 points per game, while Malik Monk was one of the best bench players in the NBA and was averaging 15.4 points per game off the bench. These are two massive blows and will not help their chances tonight. I love the Warriors to take this game and keep their playoff hopes alive tonight. They match up very well against the Kings and have a much deeper bench. The Warriors' second unit consists of Chris Paul, Brandon Podziemski, and Jonathan Kuminga, three highly talented bench players. The Kings do not have nearly as much depth, and with the new additional injuries they have dealt with to Kevin Huerter and Malik Monk, the situation is even worse. Draymond Green also matches up well defensively with his team as either he or Trayce Jackson Davis will be able to minimize the damage Domantas Sabonis can do. The Kings shoot the third most three-pointers per game in the NBA, and the Warriors sport the 11th-best three-point percentage Allowed.

This matchup seems fit to the Warrior's strengths, and they have a more veteran roster with more playoff and even championship experience. The Warriors also played better on the road this year, as they went 25–15 on the road and just 21–20 at home. The Warriors have taken six of the last ten had-to-head meetings, and I like them to advance in the play-in tournament tonight.
