The Boise State Broncos are back in action today after an impressive win at home against San Diego State on Saturday. They now hit the road and travel to Fresno to take on the Fresno State Bulldogs. The Bulldogs are off to a rough start this year, entering this game with a record of 8–10 and 1-4 in conference play in the Mountain West. The Broncos, on the other hand, are 13–5 entering this game, including a 4-1 start in conference play, with their lone loss coming to UNLV. Can Boise State cover as 5.5-point favorites today?

Boise State vs. Fresno State Prediction
Boise State has been in good hands under head coach Leon Rice. Rice has been the head coach since the 2010–11 season and has taken the Broncos to back-to-back March madness appearances in 2022 and 2023. With much of the same team from those last few seasons, the Broncos look to head back to the big dance once again. The Broncos returned much of their starting cast from last season‘s team, including Tyson Degenhart, Chibuzo Agbo, and Max Rice. However, they have a few new additions as well, like Omar Stanley, who transferred from St. John’s, and Roddie Anderson, who transferred from UC San Diego. Degenhart and Stanley help hold down the paint and Stanley adds to an offense that has a lot of size. Tyson, Degenheart leads the team with 15.7 points per game, but Chibuzo Agbo is not far behind with 14.7 points per game. Overall, the Broncos have four scorers over 10 points per game, with Omar Stanley coming in at 12.7 and Max Rice coming in at 11.1.
Fresno State has been off to a very rocky start this season. After finishing with an 11-19 record last year, they are looking at a similar position this season with an 8–10 start. Their 1-4 conference record so far includes just one win at home against San Jose State by three points. San Jose State is another team at the bottom of the Mountain West Conference that is projected to finish at the bottom. Fresno State has the worst NET rating in the Mountain West Conference, and things are only looking down for a team led by mostly seniors. Fresno State is led by Isaiah Hill, who is averaging 12.4 points per game, but he is the only scorer on the team averaging double digits in scoring per game. Scoring depth is a problem for a Fresno State offense that has lacked consistency all season. Fresno State likes to score inside the three-point line and has scored 55.8% of their points from inside the arc, but they will be up against a Boise State team that plays tight defense. Overall, I’m a bit shocked to see Boise State is just a 5.5-point favorite in this game. Fresno State may be a little better than their record, but they are still one of the worst teams in the Mountain West Conference, and Boise State is up there in the conference with Utah State and San Diego State. The Mountain West Conference is loaded with talent, as they have five teams with a top 50 net rating. Boise State is up there, but they have to win the games against the bottom of the conference, like their game tonight, if they want to finish at the top of the conference at the end of the year. This is a game that they match up well in and they should be able to take care of business tonight.
